Your Lawyers 
We are a three partner firm (Martin Salloway, Phillip Miles and Anne Bellchambers) with three assistant solicitors:Keith Barker, Hugh Ogilvie and Galina Labworth.The firm began on 1st February 2000. 
Our team have over 100 years of experience between them.  
Anne Bellchambers LLB 
Anne qualified in 1987 and was a sole practioner in Exeter before being a founding partner in Bay Advocates. 
 
She is also a Higher Courts Advocate. This entitles her to conduct matters in the Crown Court and above, which are usually the preserve of barristers. She has been to the Court of Appeal on behalf of clients. 
 
Anne has developed a reputation for going the extra mile for clients, achieving impressive results in the process. She is now based in the Newton Abbot office (Teign Advocates) 
 
In her spare time, Anne has a keen interest in all sports, but especially cricket, and participates in rowing. She is starting training for her first Marathon.Her biggest interest is travelling of all types, to all places! 
Philip Miles BA 
Philip (qualified 1986) and was in at the start of Bay Advocates as a partner having previously been a partner elsewhere in Torbay. 
 
Phil has a loyal client following which is a tribute to his skills as an advocate and lawyer. He is based in Torquay. 
 
Phil is a devoted family man, church goer and hughly knowledgeble about sci-fi and Star Trek in particular. 
Martin Salloway BA 
Martin has been practising since 1994 and left another local firm to set up Bay Advocates with Anne and Phil. 
 
He is also a Higher Courts Advocate. This entitles him to conduct matters in the Crown Court and above, which are usually the preserve of barristers. Martin has represented clients at the Court of Appeal in London 
 
Martin has developed an eye for technical defences in Motoring cases, to the benefit of a number of local drivers. 
 
Away from work, Martin is an enthusiastic cook, the effects of which he tries to counterbalance by regular cycling. 
Keith Barker 
Keith has been a solicitor since 1976 and had his own firm in London before doing the sensible thing of moving to Devon and joining Bay Advocates. 
 
Keith is a highly experienced lawyer who has dealt with high profile cases at the Old Bailey.  
 
He enjoys living in the countryside, where he pursues his interests in sailing, rugby and real ale. 
Hugh Ogilvie 
Hugh is a Solicitor with over 14 years experience, previously working in and around East and North London. He has been a Duty Solicitor since 1999. He is based in our Newton Abbot office. 
 
Hugh gained Higher Rights in 2005 and has conducted Crown Court advocacy successfully on behalf of clients since that date.  
 
Hugh is a keen cricketer and an active player of football and tennis. He is also learning to surf. 
He has a wide ranging interest in cinema and music and has yet to be converted to a Torquay United supporter from the other United in Manchester! 
Galina Labworth 
 
Galina also has over 10 years experience as a lawyer, beginning her career working in the Court of Appeal office . 
She worked in North and East London as a solicitor, specialising in the youth and mental health areas of criminal law.  
 
Galina is Mum to 3 children and currently works part- time in Newton Abbot.. Her interests include live music, festivals and cooking. She is a keen mosaic artist
